They call it fall for reason. Leaves fall from trees. Clocks fall back an hour. You might even notice that your lashes seem to be falling off (or shedding) a bit more than usual. There’s no need to panic. It’s perfectly normal and we have a few tips to get you through it.
All of your lashes are in different stages of their growth cycle. There are baby lashes just appearing and growing (the Anagen phase lasting 15 to 20 days), “teenage” lashes (transitional Catagen phase lasting 14 to 21 days), and mature lashes (the resting Telogen phase lasting 30 to 45 days). In fall and winter, the length of the cycle can shift, and lashes may shed more frequently.
Everything starts closer to the end of the summer. During this time, intense heat may trigger more lash hairs to go into the resting phase, stopping growth, and causing them to fall out over the next month or two.
Also when temps and humidity start to drop in autumn, if your skin is dry, your hair follicles (located just below the skin) aren’t being as nourished. Translation: their growth is affected and they can become brittle. Result: they fall out before their time is up.
There are a few ways to help your lashes stay full throughout the fall and winter months.
- Invest in a lash growth serum to help them stay nourished. We love LiLash Purified Eyelash Serum because it can be safely used with lash extensions. It conditions and nourishes follicles to boost the appearance of length and thickness of your lashes. Grab one during your next visit at any of our locations or order online.
- Take Vitamin D. Known to keep bones and skin healthy, in recent years, it’s also been linked to boosting hair growth. A 2012 study in the journal Stem Cells Translational Medicine suggests that Vitamin D can actually help create new follicles!
- Don’t wait three weeks for refill. Come in sooner. Heavier shedding means more frequent fills, so we’ll see you soon!

You take great measures to keep yourself beautiful and pampered. Your hair is shiny and lush. Your face is radiant, your skin soft and dewy. What about your lashes?
One of the biggest culprits of premature lash loss is not taking care of your lashes properly at home. To the naked eye, they might look squeaky clean. Glancing at them through your lash technician's magnifying glass tells a different story.
Every day (especially during a night out in glamorous full makeup), your lash line is bombarded by dead skin, excess oils, and cosmetics. When you clean your lashes, you're rinsing away these nasties to prevent bacteria build up, allergens, and even natural lash loss. This build up also eats away at your extension's glue bond, breaking it down over time. Translation - extensions coule fall off your natural lash instead of lasting the entire life of the natural lash.
Give your lashes what they need – a proper cleansing with Lash L'Amour's new foam cleanser. Available in scent-free or in a minty tea tree formula, this gentle cleanser removes makeup and oils for squeaky clean lashes. Choose the Tea Tree Extract for anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant agents that soothe and are great for sensitive skin.
How frequently you cleanse depends on you. If you keep your look natural, wash your eyelash extensions two to three times per week. If you reach for the makeup every day, wash lashes/remove makeup daily. Also using a cleanser specifically created for lashes means you will avoid potential glycols, oils, and other no-nos for lash extensions often found in regular facial cleansers and makeup removers.
How to use: Pump a small amount of foam onto your fingers. Gently apply to your lashes. Massage the lashes, eyelid, lash line, and around the eyes gently to remove makeup and clean your lashes. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
Lash L'Amour's new foam lash cleansers are sold in all three of our locations and are available to purchase online for $20.

Fact: When your lashes are lacking, it's time for extensions.
But what if you already have the length but just not the lift? You might want to look into a lash lift.
It's all in the name. Like a perm for your lashes, this service gives your natural lashes a nice upward shape and realistic curl that leads to fresh-faced, open-eyed beauty.
A lash lift lasts (say that three times fast) eight to 12 weeks and involves applying a super safe keratin to the lashes. Once the service is complete, you can also finish up with a tint for an extra depth and darkness that lasts three weeks.
But this isn't a one-lift-fits-all service. It all comes down to what your natural lashes are like. A lift helps your natural lashes reach their full potential. Translation: If you have fine and short natural lashes or sparse lashes, the lift won't make a difference. It won't fill in gaps or add volume. If this is the case, skip the lash lift service and go straight to extensions.
An excellent candidate for the best lash lift results is someone with long natural lashes that are fuller than average. If you have you are batting an average length and amount, you also might want to get the lift.
No matter which service you choose - a lift, tiny, or extensions - your longer fuller, lashes await.

Welcome to the makeup-free zone. AKA summer - the season of fresh faces. But as you hop from pool party to beach BBQ, batting those long lashes, you're also dealing with some unwanted guests that accompany the heat. Think humidity, oily sunscreen, chlorinated water. All can wreak havoc on your lash extensions.
Show them a little extra TLC with these four top tips for healthy lash extensions during the summer.
- Sunscreen is definite summer necessity for good skin, but oily formulas can shorten your lashes' lifespan. Avoid getting sunscreen on your lash extensions, and instead opt for sunglasses that offer UV/UVB protection. Note: if a pair of sunglasses doesn't have a UVA/UVB label on them, consider them for fun not for sun.
- A lap in the pool might be refreshing for your body, but it's a worrisome past time for your lash extensions. Excessive exposure to chlorine can break down adhesive, so protect that flirty fringe. When swimming in a pool, wear a set of goggles. And, of course, you should avoid swimming in the first 24 hours following any new lash application.
- Summer is all about natural breezy looks, so opt for shorter length extensions. This doesn't mean you have to forego the glam. Ask for your lash expert to make your lashes fuller with a higher number of lashes.
- Whether you're rubbing eyes from sweat or toweling off from a dip, you're touching your eyes more during the hotter months. Also with all of our outdoor activity comes a healthy uptake of Vitamin D. Translation: Your lashes grow faster in the summer, so turnover might be more noticeable. Getting refills every two weeks instead of three to four weeks will keep lashes lush.
Keeping an eye on how you treat your lashes during the summer will make all the difference. Happy summer!

How to Make your Eyelash Extensions Last Longer
You just got a gorgeous new set of eyelash extensions, and now you're wondering how to keep them looking as good as the first day for as long as possible. Don't worry! We have some tricks up our sleeve that will help you keep your extensions looking fabulous for longer! Check out the 9 ways to make your eyelash extensions last longer below!Tip #1: Come to your appointment informed and prepared
The first step in making your extensions lash longer is to come prepared to your appointment. Be sure to thoroughly clean your natural lashes and eye area before coming to your appointment. Your lash artist will clean your lashes more, but if you come to your appointment with a full face of makeup, there is a chance that all previous mascara won't be removed. If a lash extension is applied to a dirty lash, it won't last as long as it should. So, do your lash artist a favor (and your eyelash extensions) and don't wear any eye makeup to your appointment. This will enable your lash artist to spend more time getting the dirt and oils off of your lashes to ensure a tight and long fit. Another way to make your eyelash extensions last longer is to know that you cannot get your lashes wet for 12 hours after the appointment. Do everything you need to do - shower, go to the gym, get your facial or spray tan PRIOR to your appointment. Keeping your lashes free from all moisture and humidity for as long as possible will help prolong the life of your eyelash extensions significantly.Tip #2: Get regular refill
To keep your lash extensions looking their best, regular refills every 2–3 weeks are highly recommended. Your natural lashes follow a growth cycle, they grow to full length and eventually shed to make room for new lashes. When a natural lash sheds, the extension attached to it will shed as well. To maintain a full, fresh look, it's best to schedule regular refill appointments with your lash artist.Tip #3: Grab a lash extension care kit
Taking good care of your eyelash extensions at home and in between appointments is important when it comes to making your eyelash extensions last longer. Our lash extension care kit includes a foam cleanser, a lash brush, mascara wands, and a lash care information card.- Lash L'Amour Foam Cleanser: Specially formulated for eyelash extensions, this cleanser gently removes makeup, dirt, and impurities. When cleansing, be gentle and avoid using cotton products such as cotton balls, swabs, or Q-tips, as fibers can catch on your lashes.
- Lash Brush: Saturate the brush with foam cleanser and gently run them over your extensions to remove mascara, makeup and buildups.
- Mascara Wands: Brushing your lashes daily will help prevent tangling while brushing your lashes after you shower will help position your lashes perfectly for the day.
- Lash Care Card: Instruction for lash aftercare.
Tip #4: Brush Daily
As mentioned in the last tip, you want to be sure to brush your lashes daily, if not multiple times per day. This will help prevent tangling and will help position your lashes perfectly. In the morning and after you shower are both great times to use mascara wands to brush your lashes.Tip #5: Watch your oil
Do not use oil-based products around your eyes such as creams, serums, or cleansers. We know those plumping night creams are great, but they usually contain a lot of oil. Oil can break up the adhesive causing your lash extensions to fall out before they're ready. Search for products that are oil-free to avoid this.Tip #6: Avoid waterproof products
Waterproof mascara and eyeliners are very hard to remove, often resulting in your natural lashes falling out due to the harsh rubbing involved. So, avoid these products at all costs!Tip #7: Cleanse often
Another common issue is not cleansing natural lashes out of fear of damaging extensions. In reality, skipping cleansing can clog follicles, weaken lashes, and cause premature shedding or extensions becoming too heavy. Regular, gentle cleansing, especially at the lash base with your care kit, keeps natural lashes healthy and strong enough to hold extensions.Tip #9: Don't touch
Last on our list of tips to make your eyelash extensions last longer is to avoid playing with them! Do not touch, rub, or pick at your extensions! We hope that you enjoyed these tips on making your lash extensions last longer. Do you have any tips that you can add to this list? Comment below! We would love to hear them!- To book your next refill appointment, click HERE.

The beauty industry is always evolving; new trends, fads, and breakthroughs are happening daily. One thing that we pride ourselves on here at Lash L'Amour is that we always stay on the cutting edge of beauty industry trends while staying away from fads that don't serve our clients. The latest trend that we truly admire is a newer lash enhancement service called Keratin Lash Lift.
Keratin Lash Lift is a great way to give your lashes a dramatic appearance with minimal maintenance. It is a great alternative for eyelash extensions and is perfect for everyday wear or events.
What is Keratin Lash Lift?
Lash Lift originated in Switzerland in 2008 but is just starting to make it's way to mainstream American beauty now. It is an eyelash enhancement service that adds curl and definition to your natural lashes for 6-8 weeks (depending on your body's natural lash cycle).
Unlike eyelash extensions, lash lift utilizes your natural lashes and a combination of shields, pads creams, and expert technique to give your eyelashes a dramatic boost.
How does it work?
A keratin lash lift is basically an advanced perm for your eyelashes. A solution is delicately and safely applied to your eyelashes which changes the bonds of your lashes permanently. Your lashes will stay in the new and enhanced shape until they fall out naturally and new ones grow back in (about 6-8 weeks).
You will still be able to wear all of the makeup that you currently wear including your mascara (but you probably won't need to). You may want to switch to a mascara that is easy to remove so that you don't prematurely lose or break your natural lashes by rubbing too hard. This will extend the life of your lash lift.
What is the process of getting a lash lift like?
First, one of our certified lash lift specialists will thoroughly clean your eyelashes and eyelids. It's best to go to your appointment without any eye makeup on at all. All makeup and oils must be removed in order for the keratin to do it's job properly, and for you to get the most time out of your new lash lift.
After that, your eyes will be prepped with pads to hold down your lower lashes so that they don't get any of the solution on it. There will also be silicone pads placed on your eyelid that are basically molds for your new lashes.
The keratin solution is then delicately applied to your upper eyelashes with spoolies. This will sit for about 8-12 minutes. Your eyes will be closed and you will be laying down.
After the keratin is done processing, you will get some more lotions and oils applied. The first is a setting cream that your lash lift specialist will run through your lashes with spoolies, and the second is a nourishing oil that will give your lashes some natural shine.
The pads and shields will be removed and you will be ready to go! You cannot get your lashes wet or apply mascara for 48 hours, as the keratin will still continue to process for 2 days. You should keep this in mind before you go to your appointment.
Is there any maintenance associated with lash lift?
The best part of getting a keratin lash lift is that there is little maintenance involved! If you decide you want to keep your lash lift for everyday use, you will need to get a lift every 6-10 weeks, depending on your natural lash cycle.
If you want to extend the life of your natural lashes, it is best to use a mascara that is easy to remove, so that you don't prematurely lose or break any lashes. You can also switch to a nourishing or even a keratin mascara to try to extend the life of your lashes.
Other than that, there is virtually no maintenance required and you can continue to use the same makeup, creams, and oils as you were before!
Who Should Get Lash Lift?
Lash lifts are a great alternative for eyelash extensions. If you can't get extensions for whatever reason, or if you simply do not like extensions, then a lash lift will be perfect for you because it is a gentler, easier process, and can give you a dramatic look just like extensions.
Lash lifts are great for events or day to day use. If you are getting a lash lift for a certain event, you will want to get it done about 3 days in advance, so that the keratin has time to fully set. Remember, you cannot get your lashes wet or apply mascara for 48 hours.
