So you've done all of the things to make your brows perfect. You've tweezed, plucked, and waxed, but your brows still aren't looking very Cara Delevingne-esque. You're not quite ready to take on microblading just yet, so you're wondering if there's anything else that you can do to make your eyebrows as drop dead gorgeous as you. The answer is brow tinting.

What is brow tinting?

Brow tinting is the process of using semi-permanent vegetable dye to darken your natural eyebrows while enhancing their shape and thickness. It usually lasts about 3-4 weeks but can vary person to person. When done alone, brow tinting can give you an immediately groomed look. When done in conjunction with brow shaping, however, you can walk out of the spa completely Because a semi-permanent dye is used it's important to only get your brows tinted by a professional! Someone who has done brow tinting before and qualified. If not, you could be waiting a whole month before your brows start to look normal again!

What is the brow tinting process like?

Before your brow artist even brings an ounce of dye to your brows you two are going to talk desired look. Your brow artist will take a look at the natural color of your brows (including the root), your hair color, eye color, and anything else she thinks will be important when determining the perfect shade for you. After that, your artist will mix up the dye and get started! She will saturate your brows with the dye and then wait for it to take effect. This could vary depending on your natural lash color but can take anywhere between 5-10 minutes (with some breaks and reapplications in between). Your brow artist will wash the dye off and reveal to you your new and improved groomed look! You will want to book your monthly follow-up appointments so that you can keep up your desired look.

How to Make your Eyelash Extensions Last Longer

You just got a gorgeous new set of eyelash extensions, and now you're wondering how to keep them looking as good as the first day for as long as possible. Don't worry! We have some tricks up our sleeve that will help you keep your extensions looking fabulous for longer! Check out the 9 ways to make your eyelash extensions last longer below!

Tip #1: Come to your appointment informed and prepared

The first step in making your extensions lash longer is to come prepared to your appointment. Be sure to thoroughly clean your natural lashes and eye area before coming to your appointment. Your lash artist will clean your lashes more, but if you come to your appointment with a full face of makeup, there is a chance that all previous mascara won't be removed. If a lash extension is applied to a dirty lash, it won't last as long as it should. So, do your lash artist a favor (and your eyelash extensions) and don't wear any eye makeup to your appointment. This will enable your lash artist to spend more time getting the dirt and oils off of your lashes to ensure a tight and long fit. Another way to make your eyelash extensions last longer is to know that you cannot get your lashes wet for 12 hours after the appointment. Do everything you need to do - shower, go to the gym, get your facial or spray tan PRIOR to your appointment. Keeping your lashes free from all moisture and humidity for as long as possible will help prolong the life of your eyelash extensions significantly.

Tip #2: Get regular refill

To keep your lash extensions looking their best, regular refills every 2–3 weeks are highly recommended. Your natural lashes follow a growth cycle, they grow to full length and eventually shed to make room for new lashes. When a natural lash sheds, the extension attached to it will shed as well. To maintain a full, fresh look, it's best to schedule regular refill appointments with your lash artist.

Tip #3: Grab a lash extension care kit

Taking good care of your eyelash extensions at home and in between appointments is important when it comes to making your eyelash extensions last longer. Our lash extension care kit includes a foam cleanser, a lash brush, mascara wands, and a lash care information card.
  • Lash L'Amour Foam Cleanser: Specially formulated for eyelash extensions, this cleanser gently removes makeup, dirt, and impurities. When cleansing, be gentle and avoid using cotton products such as cotton balls, swabs, or Q-tips, as fibers can catch on your lashes.
  • Lash Brush: Saturate the brush with foam cleanser and gently run them over your extensions to remove mascara, makeup and buildups.
  • Mascara Wands: Brushing your lashes daily will help prevent tangling while brushing your lashes after you shower will help position your lashes perfectly for the day.
  • Lash Care Card: Instruction for lash aftercare.
To purchase your lash care kit, either click HERE or ask your lash artist during your next appointment.

Tip #4: Brush Daily

As mentioned in the last tip, you want to be sure to brush your lashes daily, if not multiple times per day. This will help prevent tangling and will help position your lashes perfectly. In the morning and after you shower are both great times to use mascara wands to brush your lashes.

Tip #5: Watch your oil

Do not use oil-based products around your eyes such as creams, serums, or cleansers. We know those plumping night creams are great, but they usually contain a lot of oil. Oil can break up the adhesive causing your lash extensions to fall out before they're ready. Search for products that are oil-free to avoid this.

Tip #6: Avoid waterproof products

Waterproof mascara and eyeliners are very hard to remove, often resulting in your natural lashes falling out due to the harsh rubbing involved. So, avoid these products at all costs!

Tip #7: Cleanse often

Another common issue is not cleansing natural lashes out of fear of damaging extensions. In reality, skipping cleansing can clog follicles, weaken lashes, and cause premature shedding or extensions becoming too heavy. Regular, gentle cleansing, especially at the lash base with your care kit, keeps natural lashes healthy and strong enough to hold extensions.

Tip #9: Don't touch

Last on our list of tips to make your eyelash extensions last longer is to avoid playing with them! Do not touch, rub, or pick at your extensions! We hope that you enjoyed these tips on making your lash extensions last longer. Do you have any tips that you can add to this list? Comment below! We would love to hear them!

The beauty industry is always evolving; new trends, fads, and breakthroughs are happening daily. One thing that we pride ourselves on here at Lash L'Amour is that we always stay on the cutting edge of beauty industry trends while staying away from fads that don't serve our clients. The latest trend that we truly admire is a newer lash enhancement service called Keratin Lash Lift. Keratin Lash Lift is a great way to give your lashes a dramatic appearance with minimal maintenance. It is a great alternative for eyelash extensions and is perfect for everyday wear or events. What is Keratin Lash Lift? Lash Lift originated in Switzerland in 2008 but is just starting to make it's way to mainstream American beauty now. It is an eyelash enhancement service that adds curl and definition to your natural lashes for 6-8 weeks (depending on your body's natural lash cycle). Unlike eyelash extensions, lash lift utilizes your natural lashes and a combination of shields, pads creams, and expert technique to give your eyelashes a dramatic boost. How does it work? A keratin lash lift is basically an advanced perm for your eyelashes. A solution is delicately and safely applied to your eyelashes which changes the bonds of your lashes permanently. Your lashes will stay in the new and enhanced shape until they fall out naturally and new ones grow back in (about 6-8 weeks). You will still be able to wear all of the makeup that you currently wear including your mascara (but you probably won't need to). You may want to switch to a mascara that is easy to remove so that you don't prematurely lose or break your natural lashes by rubbing too hard. This will extend the life of your lash lift. What is the process of getting a lash lift like? First, one of our certified lash lift specialists will thoroughly clean your eyelashes and eyelids. It's best to go to your appointment without any eye makeup on at all. All makeup and oils must be removed in order for the keratin to do it's job properly, and for you to get the most time out of your new lash lift. After that, your eyes will be prepped with pads to hold down your lower lashes so that they don't get any of the solution on it. There will also be silicone pads placed on your eyelid that are basically molds for your new lashes. The keratin solution is then delicately applied to your upper eyelashes with spoolies. This will sit for about 8-12 minutes. Your eyes will be closed and you will be laying down. After the keratin is done processing, you will get some more lotions and oils applied. The first is a setting cream that your lash lift specialist will run through your lashes with spoolies, and the second is a nourishing oil that will give your lashes some natural shine. The pads and shields will be removed and you will be ready to go! You cannot get your lashes wet or apply mascara for 48 hours, as the keratin will still continue to process for 2 days. You should keep this in mind before you go to your appointment. Is there any maintenance associated with lash lift? The best part of getting a keratin lash lift is that there is little maintenance involved! If you decide you want to keep your lash lift for everyday use, you will need to get a lift every 6-10 weeks, depending on your natural lash cycle. If you want to extend the life of your natural lashes, it is best to use a mascara that is easy to remove, so that you don't prematurely lose or break any lashes. You can also switch to a nourishing or even a keratin mascara to try to extend the life of your lashes. Other than that, there is virtually no maintenance required and you can continue to use the same makeup, creams, and oils as you were before! Who Should Get Lash Lift? Lash lifts are a great alternative for eyelash extensions. If you can't get extensions for whatever reason, or if you simply do not like extensions, then a lash lift will be perfect for you because it is a gentler, easier process, and can give you a dramatic look just like extensions. Lash lifts are great for events or day to day use. If you are getting a lash lift for a certain event, you will want to get it done about 3 days in advance, so that the keratin has time to fully set. Remember, you cannot get your lashes wet or apply mascara for 48 hours.
