We have got this question a lot lately. Korean lash lift is everywhere right now, showing up in beauty content, spa menus, and all over TikTok, and a lot of clients come in wondering if it's genuinely different from what they've had before, or if someone just gave the same old service a new name.
Fair question. And the honest answer is that it depends entirely on where you go, what technique they're trained in, and what formula they're using.
We've been offering lash services in Newton and Boston for over 15 years. Whether you're coming to us on Newbury Street or on Langley Road in Newton, you're getting the same technique and the same formula. We'll walk through both in this post, because the details matter more than most people realize.
So What Actually Makes It "Korean"?
The Korean lash lift started in South Korea as a response to a real problem. Traditional lash lifts work beautifully on some lash types and fall completely flat on others. Clients with short, straight, coarse, or downward-growing lashes often found their lift gone within two weeks, or never lifted properly to begin with. The Korean technique was developed to fix exactly that. It works from the root all the way to the tip of the lash, not just the root to the midpoint like a traditional lift. That distinction matters more than most people realize. When the lifting formula is applied through the full length of the lash, your artist has far more control over the shape, direction, and style of the curl. A bigger, more dramatic lift becomes achievable. More subtle and natural results are equally achievable. The outcome is not dictated by the limits of partial application. It's shaped by your artist's trained hands and your individual lash characteristics.
Unlike a traditional lash lift, the Korean method allows for a more tailored curl design, precise, structured, and built around your specific eye shape. The result is a defined, polished lift that looks refined rather than generic.
Korean Lash Lift vs Traditional Lash Lift: The Real Difference
This is where we need to be specific, because the difference between these two services is more technical than most salons explain.A traditional lash lift applies the lifting formula from the root to the midpoint of the lash only. That approach works well for clients with medium to long lashes that are thin to straight and already grow in an upward or outward direction. For those lash types, a traditional lift does its job. The formula is stronger, which means it works fast, but it also means there is less room for error and less control over the final shape.
A Korean lash lift applies the formula from root all the way to the tip. This opens up a completely different level of precision. Your artist can control the amount of lift, the direction of the curl, and the overall style because the formula is working with the entire lash rather than just the base. The ingredients are gentler by design, which is what makes full-length application safe and effective. They are nourishing rather than aggressive, which means your lashes come out of the treatment looking healthy rather than processed.
The Korean technique also works on a much wider range of lash types. Short lashes, long lashes, thin lashes, coarse and stubborn lashes, downward-growing lashes, straight lashes. Clients who have been told they are not a good candidate for a lash lift are often exactly the clients the Korean technique was built for.
Both techniques can be performed with lash balm, which is the professional term for the adhesive used to hold lashes to the shield during processing, or without it. The use of lash balm is a technique choice, not a quality indicator. It does not make lashes heavy, does not interfere with the lift, and does not affect the result. What matters is the application range and the formula, not whether the balm is used.
The Formula We Use and Why It Matters
Most spas are offering one of two things. Either they are using a straight thioglycolate formula, known in the industry as TGA, and calling it Korean. Or they have switched to a pure cysteamine formula, which gets marketed as the gentler and more organic option. Both have real limitations.TGA alone is fast and strong but aggressive. It operates at a high pH, which can stress the lash cuticle if timing is not monitored carefully. It is best suited for root-to-mid application and traditional lifting work. The smell is also hard to ignore. If you have ever left a lash lift appointment feeling like the fumes followed you home, that is TGA.
Pure cysteamine is a gentler chemistry and an amino acid derivative that works with the lash's natural structure rather than against it. But it processes slowly, anywhere from 8 to 20 minutes, depending on lash type. For thicker or more resistant lashes, that longer contact time on the skin can actually cause more irritation, not less. Artists who switch to cysteamine-only systems often find inconsistent results on clients with coarser lashes, which is exactly the client type the Korean technique is supposed to serve best.
What we use is a hybrid of cysteamine and TGA combined. This is not a compromise between two options. It is the most advanced formulation available right now and the approach the leading Korean lash lift systems are built around. TGA provides reliable lifting power to reshape the lash bonds efficiently. Cysteamine moderates its aggressiveness, protects the lash fiber throughout the process, and adds nourishing properties that support healthy lash regrowth over time. Together, they make root-to-tip application safe, effective, and consistent across every lash type we work with.
In practice, this means a processing time of 5 to 10 minutes, a gentler experience on the natural lashes and skin compared to TGA or Cysteamine alone, a milder smell, and consistent results on lash types that other formulas struggle with. It is healthier for your lashes, more comfortable during the service, and produces a better lift.
We talk about this not to impress you but because after 15 years in this business, we know that what goes on your lashes matters and you should know what you are getting before you book.
Is It Right for You?
If you have had lash lifts before that did not hold well, went flat within two weeks, or just never gave you the result you were hoping for, there is a good chance your lash type is part of the reason. Straight, downward-growing, thick, or coarse lashes are the hardest for a traditional root-to-mid lift to address. The Korean root-to-tip technique with our hybrid formula handles those lash types much more effectively. It works equally well on short lashes that a traditional lift cannot grip properly, and on long lashes that need a bigger or more sculpted lift than a partial application can produce.
It is also one of the best transitions you can make after wearing lash extensions. A lot of clients come to us wanting to give their natural lashes a break from extensions but are not ready to walk around without anything on. The Korean lash lift is the perfect middle ground. There is no added weight, no maintenance appointments, and no fill schedule. What makes it especially well suited for post-extension lashes is the formula itself. Our hybrid Cysteamine and TGA blend does not just reshape the lash, it nourishes it throughout the process, which means your lashes come out looking and feeling healthier than when they went in. For lashes that have been under extensions for months or years, that kind of restorative lift makes a real difference.
If you have sensitive eyes or have experienced skin reactions to lash services in the past, we recommend booking a complimentary patch test and consultation at least 48 hours before your lash lift appointment. This simple step allows us to make sure your skin responds well to the formula before we proceed. Your safety is always our number one priority, and we would rather take that extra time up front than have you experience any discomfort during or after your service.
Where We Offer Korean Lash Lifts: Boston and Newton, MA
We perform Korean lash lifts at both of our Massachusetts locations. Our Boston location is on Newbury Street in Back Bay, easy to reach from the Green Line at Copley or Arlington, and a short walk from the Prudential Center. Hours are Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 7 PM, and Saturday through Sunday, 10 AM to 6 PM.
Our Newton location is on Langley Road in Newton Centre with metered street parking available nearby. We are a short drive from Newton Highlands, Chestnut Hill, Wellesley, Needham, Waltham, and Watertown, and clients from these towns book with us regularly for Korean lash lifts in Newton. Hours are Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 7 PM, and Saturday, 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
Both teams train together and use the same hybrid Cysteamine and TGA formula. The result you get in Newton is the same as the result you get in Boston. You just choose the location that works for you.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
Your appointment will run about 60 to 75 minutes, start to finish. Your artist begins by looking at your natural lash length, growth direction, and eye shape before choosing the right shield style and size. That step takes just a few minutes but makes a real difference in how the curl sets, and it is part of what a trained eye catches that a rushed appointment skips. From there: a thorough cleanse to remove oils and residue, shield placement, the hybrid formula applied root to tip, 5 to 10 minutes of processing depending on your lash type, a neutralizer to lock the shape, and a conditioning serum to finish.
Most clients also add a lash tint, and we recommend it. The tint deepens the color of your natural lashes so you wake up with lift and definition without mascara. It adds about 15 minutes to your appointment and makes a noticeable difference in the final result.
Aftercare is simple. Keep your lashes dry for 24 hours to allow the conditioning serum to fully nourish your freshly lifted and tinted lashes, and avoid oil-based products near your eyes. Results last 6 to 8 weeks, depending on your natural growth cycle. The curl fades gradually as your lashes grow out, no sudden drop-off, just a soft return to natural. Most clients come back every 6 to 8 weeks for a re-lift, and every 4 weeks optionally for a tint refresh, and find they stop thinking about mascara entirely.
A Few Questions We Hear Often
Will this damage my lashes? Not when it is done correctly. The hybrid formula is designed to nourish and protect lash integrity while reshaping the curl, and root-to-tip application means we are working with the full lash in a controlled, precise way rather than forcing a result from a partial application. Technique and timing matter more than anything else, and our artists at both Boston and Newton train specifically in this service. How is this different from a lash perm? A lash perm uses older chemistry similar to what a hair salon would use for a wave treatment. It typically produces a tighter and less refined curl with more risk of damage. The Korean lash lift uses modern formulas that did not exist when perming was developed. The process is more controlled, the results look more natural, and the lash health outcomes are significantly better.
Do I need mascara after? Most clients do not, especially with a tint added. If you want to use mascara occasionally, wait the full 24 hours and stick to a water-based formula.
Can I book if I currently have extensions? Yes and no. You will need to have your lash extensions removed first, but what happens next depends on how and where your extensions were done. If you are one of our current lash extension clients, the good news is that we nurture and take care of your natural lashes throughout the time you wear extensions with us. Because of that, most of our regular clients are able to book a Korean lash lift and tint on the same day as their removal appointment. If your extensions were done at another spa, our lash experts will assess the health of your natural lashes after removal to determine whether it is safe to proceed the same day or whether your lashes need a few weeks to recover before we move forward. Either way, we will give you an honest answer and make sure we do right by your lashes.
I am in Newton or one of the suburbs. Do I need to go to Boston? No. Our Newton Centre location on Langley Road offers the full Korean lash lift service with the same formula and training as Newbury Street. If you are in Newton, Wellesley, Needham, Waltham, Watertown, or Chestnut Hill, Newton is almost always the most convenient choice.
We have been doing lash services in Boston and Newton for over 15 years. If you have questions before booking, call either location, and we will give you a straight answer. We would rather you come in informed than come in guessing.

Attention, lash lovers! Want lashes so long they could double as fans for your fabulous face? It's time to pamper those natural lashes like the VIPs they are. Whether you're a lash extension queen or prefer a more natural vibe, healthy natural lashes are the foundation for any show-stopping look. Let's get into it!
The Lash Growth Cycle: It's a Journey, Not a Sprint
Did you know your lashes have their own drama-filled life cycle? Here's the breakdown:- Anagen Phase (Growth Phase): This is the golden time when your lashes grow actively. This phase lasts about 30–45 days, so every millimeter counts!
- Catagen Phase (Transition Phase): Lashes stop growing and take a breather for about two to three weeks.
- Telogen Phase (Resting Phase): Your lashes hang out and eventually shed, making room for new ones to grow. This phase can last 100 days.

Healthy Lash Habits: Fitness for Your Follicles
Just like you wouldn't skip leg day at the gym (right?!), your lashes deserve some daily love. Here's how to build a lash-care routine that delivers results:1. Keep It Clean
Your lashes are magnets for dirt, oil, and makeup residue. Use a gentle lash cleanser (like our Foam Cleanser) every night to give them a clean slate. Think of it as a spa day for your lashes, ensuring their environment is healthy and irritation-free.2. Be Gentle – No Tugging Allowed
Rubbing your eyes or yanking off false lashes? Big no-nos! These habits can damage your natural lashes and disrupt their growth cycle. Instead, use oil-free makeup removers and pat (don't rub) your eyes dry.3. Skip the Torture Devices
Eyelash curlers might seem like magic, but over time they can weaken and break your lashes. If you love a lifted look, opt for a lash lift or lash extensions instead.4. Feed Your Lashes
What you eat can impact lash health:- Salmon & Avocados: Packed with omega-3s for hydrated, shiny lashes.
- Nuts & Seeds: Rich in vitamin E to strengthen and protect.
- Eggs & Leafy Greens: Boost keratin production, essential for lash growth.
5. Spill the (Green) Tea
Green tea is loaded with antioxidants that can boost lash health. Brew a cup, let it cool, and gently dab it on your lashes with a cotton pad for a refreshing, growth-promoting treatment.Advanced Lash Growth Hacks: For the Overachievers
1. Growth Serums Are Your BFF
Our LiLash Growth Serum is packed with peptides, biotin, and vitamins to supercharge your lash game. Since you're already rocking extensions, you don't need to go overboard with the serum. 3 times per week is the sweet spot. Apply a thin line of serum to your upper lash line before bed. Like any good skincare routine, consistency is crucial. Use the serum regularly to see the best results.2. Castor Oil Magic
A dab of castor oil on your lashes before bed can condition and encourage growth. Bonus: It's natural and budget-friendly.3. Lash-Friendly Makeup Choices
Stick to mascaras and liners labeled “lash-safe" or “hypoallergenic." Avoid waterproof formulas, as they're tougher to remove and can cause breakage.Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
Your lash artist is your ultimate partner in achieving #LashGoals. Follow their advice, use the products they recommend, and stick to your maintenance schedule. A solid aftercare routine will ensure your natural lashes stay strong, even if you're rocking extensions.Final Lash Love
Growing long, healthy lashes takes patience and care, but the payoff? Lashes that make everyone do a double take. Whether you're flaunting them bare or pairing them with extensions, those luscious lashes will be your best accessory.Need more tips or product recommendations? Let's face it! W e all want those dreamy lash extensions to stick around longer than a clingy ex. So, what's the secret to making them last without losing their wow factor? Spoiler alert: it's not just about the glue (but that helps too). The type of lash set you choose and how you care for them can make all the difference. Let's dive into the lash lowdown and uncover the tea on making your extensions outlast your Netflix binge sessions.
Here's a truth bomb: we naturally shed a few lashes every day (around 3-5, to be exact). Normally, they fall away unnoticed. But with extensions, those gaps become way more obvious and let's be real, no one wants the patchy lash look. The solution? Pick a lash set with enough volume to keep you looking fabulous for longer.
Want lash extensions that last as long as your fave pair of jeans? Go for fuller sets with shorter lengths and a medium curl. Show your lashes some love by sticking to these aftercare tips, and you'll have heads turning wherever you go.
The Lash Basics: Why They Don't Last Forever
Here's a truth bomb: we naturally shed a few lashes every day (around 3-5, to be exact). Normally, they fall away unnoticed. But with extensions, those gaps become way more obvious and let's be real, no one wants the patchy lash look. The solution? Pick a lash set with enough volume to keep you looking fabulous for longer.
Lash Types: The Mega, the Volume, and the Everyday Classic Look
- Mega: Think Beyoncé on a good day, bold, fabulous, and full coverage. Glam sets mean fewer gaps showing up as lashes naturally shed
- Volume: Want drama for days? Volume sets give you that “I woke up like this" vibe with extra fluff. More lashes = longer- lasting fullness
- Light Volume: Think of these as the “Goldilocks" option, just the right amount of fullness without being over the top. Light volume sets use thinner extensions and smaller fans to create a soft, fluffy look. They're ideal for those who want a bit more drama than hybrids but don't need the full intensity of a volume set.
- Hybrid: Can't pick between classic and volume? Hybrid sets are your BFF. They mix the two styles for a little drama and a lot of versatility.
- Classic: The OG of lash extensions. Classic sets involve applying one extension per natural lash, giving a clean, polished, and natural look. They're perfect for those who want a subtle enhancement or are new to lash extensions.
Length and Curl: It's All About Balance
- Longer Lashes, Shorter Lifespan: We get it! Long, fluttery lashes are tempting. But longer extensions can tug on your natural lashes, causing faster fallout. Stick to shorter lengths for better retention. They'll still look stunning, trust us.
- Drama Curls vs. Longevity Curls: Tight, dramatic curls might be flirty, but they're also more likely to fall out faster. Go for medium curls, they're softer on your lashes and just as chic.
Prep Like a Pro: Lash Tips Before Your Appointment
- Boost Your Natural Lashes: Use a lash growth serum in the weeks leading up to your appointment. Healthy natural lashes = better extension retention
- Avoid Oil Products: Oil weakens lash adhesive. Keep your skin oil-free a few days before your appointment
- Skip the Lash Lift: If you've had a lash lift, give it a few months to settle. Weak natural lashes can struggle to hold extensions.
Keep 'Em Looking Fresh: Aftercare Tips
- Cleanse Daily: Use a lash-safe cleanser every day. It's like a spa day for your eyes!
- Brush, Baby, Brush: Gently comb your lashes daily to keep them untangled and neat.
- Ditch the Waterproof Makeup: Waterproof formulas are tough to remove and can damage your extensions. Stick with regular formulas for easier cleanup.
The Final Verdict
Want lash extensions that last as long as your fave pair of jeans? Go for fuller sets with shorter lengths and a medium curl. Show your lashes some love by sticking to these aftercare tips, and you'll have heads turning wherever you go.

Myth 1: Lash Lifts Damage Your Natural Lashes
The Truth: Let's clear this up right away. Lash lifts won't ruin your lashes. As long as you're in the hands of a trained and certified professional, the process is perfectly safe. The products used are gentle, specifically designed for your delicate lashes. The key here is to ensure your technician is skilled and uses high-quality products. Think of it like getting a hair perm, if done correctly, it's harmless and even adds a little extra bounce.
Myth 2: Lash Lifts and Lash Perms Are the Same Thing
The Truth: Not quite. While both treatments involve chemicals that alter your lashes' shape, the results are different. A lash perm tends to use smaller rods for a tighter curl, while a lash lift uses silicone shields to give a more natural, fanned-out, upward look. So, no! Lash lifts don't give you that ringlet lash effect. They're all about that open-eyed, lifted look that makes your lashes appear longer without the heavy curl.
Myth 3: Lash Lifts Are Painful
The Truth: Nope, lash lifts are a walk in the park when it comes to pain. Some people may experience a slight tingling sensation during the process, but that's about as uncomfortable as it gets. In fact, many people find the process quite relaxing! If you feel anything painful, let your technician know, and they'll take care of it. But rest assured, there's no agony involved.
Myth 4: Lash Lifts Last Forever
The Truth: Unfortunately, nothing in the beauty world lasts forever (wouldn't that be nice?). Lash lifts last anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks, the lifespan of your lashes' natural growth cycle. As your lashes shed and new ones grow, the lift will gradually fade. But don't worry ! Regular touch-ups will keep those fluttery lashes looking fresh and fabulous.
Myth 5: You Can't Wear Mascara After a Lash Lift
The Truth:You absolutely *can* wear mascara after your lash lift. In fact, a little mascara can make your lifted lashes look even more voluminous! However, you'll want to wait 24 to 48 hours after your treatment to give the lift time to fully set. Once that's done, feel free to apply a gentle, non-waterproof mascara to avoid any unnecessary stress on your lashes.
Myth 6: Lash Lifts Make Your Lashes Longer
The Truth: Okay, this one is a bit tricky. Lash lifts don't technically make your lashes longer, but they do make them appear longer! By lifting them from the root, the lashes are more visible, giving the illusion of length. If you're looking for added length, try pairing your lift with a lash tint or a good-lengthening mascara. Now your lashes will be the talk of the town!
Myth 7: Anyone Can Perform a Lash Lift
The Truth: Not exactly! Lash lifts should always be done by a trained professional. Improper technique can lead to damaged lashes or even eye irritation. So, be sure to do your homework and pick a reputable technician who knows what they're doing. Remember, your eyes are precious!
Myth 8: You Can't Get Your Lashes Wet After a Lash Lift
The Truth: Here's the good news: you *can* get your lashes wet after a lash lift! But – and it's a big but – for the first 24 to 48 hours, you'll want to keep your lashes dry. After that, you can go back to your normal routine of showering, swimming, and, yes, sweating it out at the gym!
So, Why Should You Get a Lash Lift?
If you're still on the fence, let's recap: Lash lifts are low-maintenance, safe (when done by a pro), and give you that wide-eyed, fluttery look without the hassle of curlers or mascara. Whether you have short lashes or long ones, a lift works wonders for everyone! Plus, they last for weeks, all with minimal upkeep.

Alright, lash queens, let's get real: keeping those luscious extensions flawless isn't just a daytime job. The secret to waking up with dreamy lashes – not a disaster of tangled webs – lies in your bedtime routine. Ready to treat your lashes like the royalty they are? Let's dive in!
Your lashes are like tiny superheroes for your eyes, catching dust, pollen, and yes, even those occasional tearful moments (no judgment!). But here's the deal: if you let that grime stick around, you're inviting a bacteria bonanza.
Cleanse Like a Pro
Think of your nightly lash cleanse as a spa session for your peepers. Use an oil-free cleanser like our Lash L'Amour Foam Cleanser to gently wash away the day without sabotaging your lash glue.
Banish the Baddies
Bacteria thrive on dirty lashes – and trust us, they're not the kind of guests you want to entertain. A quick cleanse before bed keeps the critters away and your lashes looking fabulous.
Say No to Oil
Oil-based cleansers and lash glue do not mix. Think of oil as the villain to your lash story. Stick to gentle, oil-free products to keep your extensions intact and looking gorgeous.
Brush It Out
Your lashes need love, too. And that includes a bedtime brush-out.
Tangle-Free Vibes: No one wants to wake up with lashes that look like they've been through a pillow fight. A gentle brush with a spoolie (you know, that cute little mascara wand) keeps them sleek and ready for the next day.
Pro Brushing Tips: Close your eyes and gently brush from the middle to the tips of your lashes, steering clear of the base where the glue works its magic. For extra fluff, brush upwards from underneath. Hello, lash perfection!
Wake Up Like a Lash Goddess
With a little nighttime TLC, you'll greet every morning with lashes that slay. Who needs coffee when your lashes are doing all the waking up for you? (Okay, you still need coffee, but you get the vibe.)

As a lash master and someone who can't get enough of lashes, I've tried just about every type out there. I genuinely love them all for different reasons and occasions. Each type of faux lash offers a unique combination of durability, application ease, and customization options to enhance individual style preferences. Here's my quick breakdown of each one, along with their pros and cons.
1. Semi-Permanent Eyelash Extensions
These are individual lashes and handmade volume fans professionally applied one by one to each natural lash. They can last up to 6–8 weeks with regular refills.
Pros:
- Long-lasting up to 6 to 8 weeks
- Customizable to each person's eye shape, style, and desired fullness and length.
- Safe for natural lashes with proper application and care
- Low maintenance and stay put through sleep, exercise, and daily activities.
- No need to reapply every day like strip or DIY lashes
- Can be costly and need refills every 2-3 weeks for maintenance
- Time-consuming application
- Risk of adhesive irritation
- Requires professional application
2. Express Premade Volume Fan Lashes
Promade and premade volume fans are essentially the same thing—they're factory-produced. These fans are applied professionally, with one fan attached to each natural lash, typically taking about 30 to 45 minutes. They create a beautiful, voluminous look, but they usually last only 1 to 2 weeks.
Pros:
- Quicker application compared to single extensions and handmade volume fans
- Lower cost than handmade fans
- Ideal for 1–2-week event and short vacation
- Customizable from natural look to dramatic volume
- Shorter wear time (1-2 weeks)
- May damage natural lashes if fans are too heavy
- Less natural look due to factory production and not enough time to customize
- Cannot be refilled; a fresh set is needed every 2 weeks
- Possible irritation due to adhesive
3. DIY Lashes
DIY lashes are applied at home using lash clusters and glue without fumes. They give you a semi-permanent look that lasts 1 to 5 days, perfect if you want something temporary without a long-term commitment.
Pros:
- Affordable and accessible with a range of price options
- Flexible application for different looks
- No professional appointment needed
- Reusable with proper care
- Good for a natural or customized look
- Short wear time (typically 1–5 days)
- Daily morning maintenance required
- Requires practice and precision for proper application
- Limited durability since lash glue may weaken throughout the day
- Not water-resistant, can't withstand heavy moisture
- Will damage natural lashes with frequent wear
4. Strip Lashes
These lashes come attached to a thin strip that you stick along your lash line. You can apply them at home, and they're usually meant for wear of less than 24 hours.
Pros:
- Quick application
- Variety of styles for different looks
- Affordable and widely available
- Reusable with careful removal and cleaning
- No long-term commitment
- Short wear time less than 24 hours
- It can look unnatural if not applied correctly
- Less secure hold; inner and outer corner may peel off during wear
- Not ideal for water or sweat exposure
- Will be uncomfortable for sensitive eyes or long wear
Each type of lash meets different needs and preferences. Semi-permanent and express lashes are great for long wear and added volume, while DIY and strip lashes are perfect for short-term use or special occasions.

We know lash extensions are not for everyone (despite our personal obsession). However, some might think they're not the lash type until they have the right set. Often times, we hear clients tell us they don't want them to look “fake" because they've seen so many “fake" looking sets. Chances are that those super-dramatic lashes are exactly what those particular clients requested. That doesn't mean you have to walk around like that. Mega volume sets are the only ones you might notice, since the more subtle extensions look so close to our natural lashes (but better!). Sometimes, it's just about finding what works best for you and your eyes.
Patch Test
If you're concerned about a sensitivity or an allergic reaction, we offer a complimentary patch test to all clients. It is not required but recommended, especially if you're getting lash extensions for a wedding, vacation, or another special event. We would hate for you to have red puffy eyes for your wedding photos. During a patch test, we apply about 10-20 lash extensions per eye. The lashes we apply are very short and will blend right in with your natural lashes so you can go about your day. Typically, we'll use a mild adhesive on one eye, and a stronger adhesive on the other. This ensures that even if one adhesive is too strong for you, the other one might be perfectly fine. If you experience no reaction within 24-48 hours, chances are you are in the clear for a gorgeous set of lashes!
Consultations
We offer complimentary lash extension consultations to all our guests, especially those that are getting extensions for the first time. If you want to skip the full consultation, our lash artists will still discuss options with you prior to starting your full set. Photos are always helpful for the lash artist to get a good idea of your desired look. We'll often ask questions about your daily routine, including how much or how little makeup you wear on a daily basis. This helps us judge how dramatic or subtle of a set you're looking for.
Follow-Up
All of our New Sets come with a complimentary 30-minute follow-up appointment. Although we get a pretty good idea of what our clients are looking for during the consultation, sometimes the lashes come out ever-so-slightly too short, long, full, or not full enough after your new set. We offer this complimentary follow-up appointment to make those little adjustments within 7 days of your new set to make sure we get the lash extensions to your liking.
Even our regulars occasionally need a reminder that lash extensions are customizable. Changing the length, shape, and fullness can make quite a difference. Summer in New England might turn all of us into sun worshipers, but our skin will thank us later if we keep it protected from harmful UV rays. While we might want a little tan after hibernating all winter, sun exposure causes premature signs of aging that nobody wants. Our Eminence Organic Skin Care line has all the essentials to protect you from the sun, and to help reverse damage caused by UV rays.
One of our favorite SPF products is our Bright Skin Moisturizer. Not only is this an SPF40 moisturizer, it is also packed with organic ingredients to brighten your complexion. Whether it's sun-spots, hyper-pigmentation, or any dark spots that we notice as we age, this hydrating, yet lightweight moisturizer helps to minimize areas of darkness overtime.

If you're grabbing lunch with the girls or hopping on the ferry to Nantucket, SPF is crucial! We have just the thing to keep you protected, while adding a little more "glow." Our Sun Defense Minerals is an SPF and makeup combined! What more could you ask for!? Simply brush this super-light-weight mineral powder all over your face with the convenient retractable brush. The SPF30 mineral powder is already in the brush, so no need for extra steps. Perfect to throw in the beach bag, or to leave in the car for a quick touch-up. Comes in several shades for every skin-tone under the sun.
When it's a work day instead of a beach-day, reverse the signs of again with our Citrus & Kale Potent C & E Serum. This lightweight serum is great for all skin types, delivering antioxidants to help brighten skin, improve the look of fine lines and wrinkles, and reduce the appearance of free radical damage.

As the hot summer months approach, clients often think that lash extensions don't mix with outdoor activities. We are here to give you our sun-loving lash tips to keep your extensions looking hot all summer long!
Pool Daze
Clients often ask if they can go swimming with lash extensions. Of course! Not being able to jump into a refreshing pool during a New England summer would be torture. Enjoy that water as often as you can. After you go for a dunk, rinse lashes with cool, fresh water to rinse away chlorine. This will help keep the extensions in their best shape. Be sure to brush lashes with a spoolie to fluff them back into place as they dry.
Beach Bum
Much like the chlorine in a pool, we recommend rinsing away salt water as well. As you run Baywatch-style from the ocean, splash some cool bottled water onto your lashes to rinse away salt and debris. When sun-bathing (with SPF of course), be sure to give your lashes a little splash of fresh water every now and then to keep any sweat from falling into your lashes. Not to mention, that burst of cold water just feels fantastic in the hot summer sun! Speaking of SPF, avoid applying sunscreen directly to your lashes. Oil-based products, like sunscreen, will break down the adhesive and cause extensions to fall out prematurely. If possible, look for an oil-free sunscreen, and still avoid getting any on the lashes.
Heat Wave
For those 90-degree days where the humidity and sweat are just inevitable, we recommend booking your lash fills a little closer together. If you typically go every three weeks, try coming in every two weeks to keep lashes looking nice and full during those few super-hot weeks.
Lash Vacation
If you are going away on a long overseas vacation and sadly need to take a break from lash extensions, we totally understand, and are happy to recommend the perfect place-holder: The lovely Lash Lift. A Lash Lift is a semi-permanent lift and curl of your natural lashes, giving a more eye-opening look that lasts 6-8 weeks. With the exception of the first 24-hours, lashes can get wet or sweaty with no repercussions and minimal upkeep.
However you choose to spend your summer, don't let the heat keep you from looking and feeling your absolute best!
